World Aids Day March - 8th December

One of the Health Projects at BSDA deals with helping people who are living with Aids and also deals with informing the local communities about the disease and how it can be prevented. So the health team and I joined in on the march for World Aids day - it started just out side the office at Wat Nokor Bachey and went up to the district hall where there was a ceremony, dances, speeches and participation from local schools - I had to sit up at the front, looking like I knew what was being said in Khmer for 2 hours while the rest of the team were in the crowd....

All wearing T-shirts and baseball caps - this was the start walking through the entrance to Wat Nokor Bachey.

Me and Pheaktra the Health Program Co-ordinator.

The BSDA dancers lead the parade - they are so good.

To begin and end the ceremony the BSDA dancers performed - they are fantastic and love doing the dancing as well.

Balloons were released into the air as well - some of the kids had painted them.

This was my view of the proceedings - my colleagues were all sat in the tent to the right of the picture - they said to me afterwards that I did a great job of looking like I understood everything for 2 hours - cheeky buggers.
