Unfortunately a few people couldn't make the run - Amra had to be in Phnom Penh on an emergency house hunting trip and Mary had the first day of Ramadan so could not partake however there were 5 brave souls who turned up at 6am on the riverside - myself, Cookie, Hettie, Agnes and Dary.
Beate our coach and chief motivator had set out the course earlier in the week and had given us the route the night before. She had put little encouraging signs along the way as well.
Sunrise over the Mekong
And we off.....
These were our support gang - Mary with the cooler box, Beate our trainer and Jodie who just joined us and ran from the 5km mark.Lots of little signs on the way and then the biggest surprise of all Ali and Paola jumped out of the hedgerow at around 5 kms to keep us going - such a welcome bit of encouragement.
We even had a proper finish line - marked on the ground and with a blue ribbon.
Enthusiastic supporters from the MSF house
We did it...
Just checking Hettie is redder than myself.
and still had the energy to muck around..
Never go back on a promise and I had promised the girls I would have a Tequila Sunrise if I finished - here is the proof - such a hard life to keep my word!!Letting Amra know that we all made it round, such a shame she couldn't take part. Beate's hand with all the times on it.
