Penang - around Georgetown

I really liked Georgetown and Penang as a whole - lovely relaxed feel to the place and the food was amazing - spent most evenings in little India eating off the stalls and trying lots of different UFOs (unidentified fried objects!!) which were delicious.
With a wonderful mixture of Chinese, Indian and Malay culture, food, people and architecture, it is a great place just to wonder around on foot soaking up the smells, sights, sounds and atmosphere.

The preferred mode of transport is the trishaw in Penang, each one is decorated and has it's own personality - many play music as they cycle along, the songs I heard ranged from reggae to classical!

Old and new together...

Anyone for tea.. hows that for a kettle...
Great arched walkways along the streets - which is much needed when the rains hit.

Large incense sticks burning outside of the temples gave a wonderful smell to the streets as you wandered around.

All the flower stalls by the temples making up garlands for offerings.
