Kep

As you know I went down to Kep for a few days last week over the Water Festival. It is on the coast near the Vietnam border - beautiful area. Here are some pics...

Xenia and I

Sun setting over the sea

Sorting out the crabs by size for selling

All the crab ladies sorting out the catches for selling

Looking into the market place were all the crabs get boiled and cooked

This pot is full of prawns

The market place

This was breakfast - warm waffles and some sort of fried fruit - couldn't work out what it was but it was nice

One of the many fish stalls

Grilled squid - my favourite

Pomelo seller
The Pomelos are delicious over here and you find them at all the bus stations as snacks - peeled and with a bag of salt, garlic, sugar & chilli that you dip them in.
Mum I still remember when you used to find these every so often when we were kids and buy them for us to eat.
Happy ladies with there 'catch of the day'!

Dried fish anyone - the smell is something else...but great colours

Green mussels

Fresh steaming prawns

How many crabs can you fit in a pot...

picking up a little snack of prawns...

Kep Crab Market

Sorting out the catch

Sizing the crabs

The pickle stand
The sauce in the bottles is a chilli marinade that you put on the fish, squid, crab etc while cooking and it is delicious. the pickles in the jars range are prawns, mushrooms  & chilli
Lots of old french houses dotted along the seashore

Two of the biggest crabs in Kep!!

Troublesome twosome

Two kids fishing - you can see the next that they are holding between them - they go round in a big circle and see what gets caught

Snorkeling for fish off the end of the pier

the kids seeing what they have caught

This is the mode of transport along the coast

Every house, building, place has one of these - where they can place offerings - the colours they paint them are beautiful

Another lunch being cooked for us

Yummy squid

Squid, squid and a bit more squid

Baking bananas

This lady was making fish burgers

Kep Sailing Club!
We found some luxury as well - the kep Sailing club was an amazing little place right on the sea and the most amazing sunsets that also happened in the middle of happy hour - 2 cocktails for the price on 1 - So how could we not watch the sunsets with a cocktail for $2.....
Xenia and cocktails and a big grin...
