After our four hour ride with relaxed on the hill to with amazing views across the Mekong eating fried noodles, drinking fresh coconuts and sugar cane drinks to regain our energy...
A happy Jane me thinks...
Really liked these tiles on one of the temples - pretty hey
Trimming up the sugar cane for our drinks. They strip the bark off and then run it through a press add a squeeze of lime and serve it over a glass full of ice - all that is missing is the vodka!
Lunchtime
Just trying to recover from our exhausting morning cycle.
Antonio filling up on fresh coconut.
Leticia relaxing in one of the hammocks talking to the local school kids.
I love these especially when you realise that they build them balancing on a lotus flower.
Unfortunately lotus flowering season is over - did you know that you can eat lotus flowers, seed pods and stems - we have them a lot in soups - such a strange taste as they taste of the smell if you know what I mean!
One of the young Monks at the Wat.
Well there had to be a few funny photos in here - me and Beate doing our best poses...more to come as well!
Snack anyone...
So for those avid blog followers this photo was taken in the same position as the one in a previous entry about Wat Hanchey - the only difference in this one is the island that you can see in the picture was previously all under water and you could only see a few of the tree tops. Houses have already been rebuilt and families have moved back and are planting the land with crops now.I promise that the bag was already there - we didn't put it there - someone else had the idea...
It had to be done...
I didn't think that these rabbits looked very happy...
Now I never thought I would say this - me in a Durian fruit!!
Beate working the Cashew...
The Monks paint all these little signs around the Wat and hang them everywhere.
Not sure about these two....
True...
This sums up the corruption in Cambodia...
And here the 2 men who are guilty of creating all the concrete statues - they have moved on to insects and sea creatures now by the looks of things.
Beate with a fried banana and the thing that looks like a brain is meant to be a rice ball and below are all the different snacks that you get here wrapped up in banana leaves and palm leaves.
