Phnom Penh

Laudry room is on top of the house here so that the washing can dry in the wind and sun

Pineapples anyone - one of my favourite street vendors - so sweet and yummy - they even peel them for you...

Flower stall

Dried baked bananas - they taste better than they sound!

Haven't been able to figure out what they are making here - answer on a postcard please....

Magazines anyone...

Coconuts anyone..

They mix up the sweetest most artificial drinks you can imagine on this stall...

Sign maker

returning home with the shopping

look at those wires - an electricians nightmare!

Lights and Sights of Phnom Penh

I was down in Phnom Penh last week for a conference and I stayed down over the weekend which was a holiday as it was the Kings birthday and lots of celebrations were on - along the riverside fireworks were let off and the Royal Palace and other places were illuminated.

The road along the riverside was heaving - had to get out and walk in the end as Tuk-Tuks and motorbikes were just gridlocked.

The usual 3 on a moto - a family outing - the other day I saw 6 people on one motorbike!

Celebrations in Kampong Cham

These were the celebrations for the end of the Pchum Ben festival - everyone sent offerings out on the water - it is to say good bye to the spirits for another year.

As it is the year of the rabbit a great big illuminated rabbit floated up and down the Mekong for the evening!

Here are some of the offerings that were lit and sent floating off down the river.
